NOTES-
Here on the south side of Lakeland January was colder than normal temperature wise and wetter than normal precipitation wise.
The moderate La Nina pattern began weakening during the month but associated persistent deep layered high pressure heat ridging near or over the state acted to prevent most mid level long wave troughs from digging southward into the peninsula, which in turn blocked passage of some or significantly weakened most cold fronts and associated extra-tropical low pressure systems.
