NOTES-

Here on the south side of Lakeland December was warmer than normal and slightly wetter than normal. The warmer than normal month ended a streak of twelve consecutive months with below normal temperature.

20 days saw temperature above normal thanks to repeated periods with surface high pressure ridging and mid and upper level blocking high pressure in the vicinity of the state. The month saw nine days with maximum temperature above 80 deg., with the highest being 83 deg. on the 2nd. The month also saw seven days with maximum dewpoint temperatures above 70 degrees, with the highest being 72 deg. on the 22nd.

During 23rd-26th day period 2.23" of rainfall fell thanks to a couple of El Nino enhanced winter storms. On Christmas Day the 25th seven tornadoes touched down, three of which were F2's. Considerable damage occurred with the tornadoes in Pasco, and Volusia County.
