NOTES-

Here on the south side of Lakeland March was slightly colder than normal and much drier than normal. This is the second month in a row with below normal temperature, following December 2006 and January 2007, which together were the warmest since the El Nino winter of 1982-1983.

As we move further into the Spring months of April and May, which are climatologically dry, there is a concern for increasing drought and wildfire conditions. As a weak La Nina may form by June, the normal monsoonal rainy season may be delayed by two to four weeks, creating extreme wildfire conditions. However as I expect the hurricane season to return to activity levels similar to 2004 and 2005, by the end of the Summer we may actually shift from drought conditions to flood conditions.
